Nairobi Safaris

Kenya’s Capital Nairobi is the largest city in East Africa, and is known locally as the ‘Green City in the Sun’. Nairobi is incredibly clean, thanks to a pioneering ban on most single-use plastics, and it’s the only city in the world to be situated right next to a national park! Many travellers just use Nairobi as a transit stop for their safari and beach holiday, but it’s worth lingering longer in this vibrant bustling hub if you have time as there are plenty of attractions to keep visitors busy for a day or two.

Many of the attractions on a tailor made Nairobi city break can be found in Karen, one of the more upmarket suburbs of the city. Highlights include the Giraffe Centre, where guests can learn about the conservation process in place for the majestic and endangered Rothschild Giraffes (you can even feed one if you wish!); the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where baby elephants undergoing their rehabilitation process back into the wild melt the hearts of every visitor; and the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the author famous for writing ‘Out of Africa’. Nairobi is also awash with local crafts, and is a great place to pick up a few souvenirs. The wide range of cultural influences in Nairobi make for a diverse selection of culinary options too, and there’s a restaurant or bar here for everyone.
