Mountains, fjords and white-sand beaches

An Arabian Gulf gem where fjords, mountains, deserts and sea converge to create a magical landscape.

Oman is located on the eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula and is the oldest independent state in the Arab world. Almost guaranteed blue skies help to highlight the natural wonders that Oman has to offer: impressive mountains, fjords and dramatic deserts as well as pristine beaches.

Muscat, Oman’s capital, has a different atmosphere in comparison to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, due to low-rise buildings and its distinct white sandy beaches. You won’t want to put your camera down as you amble down the streets lined with Islamic and contemporary-inspired architecture. Wander around the many souks and give haggling a go, alternatively explore some of the designer boutique shops.

In the Gulf of Oman, you can try warm-water diving and have the chance of spotting whale sharks between January and March. On the Musandam Peninsula visit the Middle East’s answer to Norway, as the Al Hajar mountains meet the temperate ocean carving inlets not too dissimilar to Scandinavian fjords. Step further back in time and discover ancient forts and historic castles in the rolling hills.
