The perfect safari holiday in Amboseli
A safari in awe of Mount Kilimanjaro, close up encounters with the large population of elephant and in hope of seeing the big cats hunting makes a trip to Amboseli a remarkable experience.
Amboseli National Park is in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The park borders Tanzania and is situated at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Africa's tallest peak creates an incredible backdrop against the horizon at Amboseli and supplies the plains with a steady flow of water that feeds the various swamps and wetlands, a magnet for animals from miles around.
The dry seasons of January and February are good months to visit Amboseli, as well as June through to September, when the wildlife congregates around the water holes. Avoid the rainy season in April and May as wildlife disperses and roads are at times impassable.
Amboseli National Park is known for its large herd of over 900 free-ranging elephants. Expect to see lion, elephant, giraffe, cheetah, zebra and a plethora of other iconic species.
