Home to over 40 orphaned and rescued chimps unable to return to the wild
Located on Ngamba Island, this tented camp offers the only accommodation on the isle and the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with infant chimps, taking them on their early morning walk through the forest. Or visitors can opt to be a caregiver, helping keepers behind the scenes and looking after the young chimps. (All chimp interactions are subject to prior medical clearance and vaccinations).
Ngamba Island Tented Camp has four traditional safari tents located on the shores of Lake Victoria, each with comfortable twin beds, en-suite facilities and their own veranda overlooking the lake. The camp has two dining/communal areas, including a large A-frame building with a lounge and dining facilities and a outdoor decking area for sundowners and dining at night.
Guests staying at the camp have the opportunity to view two daytime feedings, as well as early morning and night time feeds at their holding facility. Other activities include sunset cruises, observing some of the islands numerous bird species or visiting a local fishing village.
