Buhoma Lodge is a quality, intimate lodge situated along a hillside in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is adjacent to the Bwindi forest and a short distance from where gorilla tracking commences. On the road, the lodge can be reached by a full day’s drive from Entebbe or Kampala, a six-hour drive from Lake Mburo National Park and two hours from Queen Elizabeth National Park. By air, light aircraft flights can be chartered from Entebbe or various locations in Uganda to land at Kihihi airstrip, just one and a half to two hours from Buhoma.
A super comfortable lodge, this property has 10 airy chalets each with a private veranda from where there are beautiful views over Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Each chalet has large, comfortable beds, a spacious en-suite bathroom; shower with hot water and offers locally produced, natural bathroom products. There are insect-proof window screens and in keeping with their environmentally-conscious ethos, owners John and Debbie Addison have ensured that eco-friendly solar-powered lighting and a gravity-fed water supply are utilised. The open-sided lounge and bar area includes a cosy fireplace to relax around on cool or chilly evenings. In the spa treatment room, guests are pampered with a complimentary massage. The four course meals are freshly prepared from local produce, and the food is exceptional!
The Gorilla Trekking experience in the national park are often very rewarding, with viewing success rates over 90%. Other activities to enjoy in the area include a visit to the Buhoma Community Village, the Batwa Tradition guided walk as well as guided nature walks and birding to enjoy the magnificent wildlife and landscape in the area.
