Close to the entrance of the Buhoma sector of Bwindi National Park, this is one of four eco-luxury lodges designed, built, and owned by the exemplary operation Volcanoes Safaris (VSPT). The company is internationally praised for respecting the culture of permanently resident communities, the conservation of fragile ecosystems and the necessity of sensible and considerate resource utilisation.
Of the eight thatched bandas (bungalows), three have double rooms and five have twin rooms. They are constructed of stone and timber with glass fronts and thatch roofs. Each banda faces the rainforest and, from its private balcony, the forest canopy views are unforgettable. Each banda has an en-suite bathroom with flushing toilet, double vanity, shower with solar-heated hot water. There is an open coal fireplace in the cosy main lodge building.
Aside from wildlife related activities, guests are encouraged to visit the inspiring Bwindi Community Hospital and to undertake a visit with a community guide to a local school and orphanage. VSPT also supports the local Batwa Cultural Experience, which has been improved in recent years.
