There are few more adventurous ways to enjoy a trip through Africa than self-driving, allow your days to pan out as you please before arriving at your chosen accommodation and moving on again the following day. We plan all self-drive trips with great care to ensure you don’t have too much driving to do on any one day whilst also ensuring the trips are incredibly diverse and no two days are the same.

Most, but not all African countries are perfect for self-drive trips and we have excellent partners in all of these destinations who provide excellent quality vehicles, driving directions and maps to help you get around as well as on-the-ground support throughout the trip should you need it.

South Africa is the most prominent self-drive destination on the continent, with the excellent road network and amazing array of experiences making it an ideal trip for first timers. Equally popular and affordable is Namibia, with the arrow straight desert roads making it easy to navigate and a great choice for families.

More experienced safari goers like to try their hands at Botswana and Malawi, where the thrill of self-driving massively adds to the experience of enjoying these amazing countries. Wilder still are both Tanzania and Kenya, where good quality roads that aren’t overly busy can be easily explored by self-driving and although the industries for self-drivers are not so well developed in these countries, we can still put together amazing trips.
