Hoodia Desert Lodge

Found in the heart of the Namib Desert, close to the banks of the Tsauchab River just 20 minutes’ drive from the gate leading in to Sossusvlei, Hoodia Desert Lodge is a glorious base from which to explore this iconic part of Namibia.

Visitors arrive at the central main area, which houses the dining room, lounge and cosy bar area – the perfect spot for relaxing in the evenings and regaling fellow travellers with tales of your time in the country. These lead through to a sprawling deck which is a great place to relax in the afternoons and enjoy the sunshine, as well as being the preferred spot for alfresco dining if the weather allows. A shaded swimming pool area is also very popular with guests and offers a welcome escape from the heat of the day. There are 11 air-conditioned chalets here, all set away from the main lodge with their own covered parking areas for guests’ convenience. Inside they are very spacious and comfortable with all of the amenities one could wish for. En-suite bathrooms have baths and outdoor showers, with full toiletries also provided. The decking areas at the front of each lodge can be set up for private meals, or simply used to relax and soak up the desert sunshine.

With Sossusvlei just a short drive away, the dunes can be easily accessed by self-drivers who are looking to explore on their own, but there are also guides on hand at the lodge offering trips there each day as well. In the late afternoons guests are able to join guides on a sundowner drinks trip out in to the desert – the perfect way to end the day!
