Beautiful gardens, spacious rooms and friendly staff make this a wonderful retreat
Just a 10-minute drive from Entebbe airport, this compact, neat, 15-room establishment is an ideal base for clients who need to be close to the airport due to arrival or departure times of international flights.
The hotel, (formerly and perhaps more appropriately named a guest house) is set in a charming refurbished colonial homestead built in the 1940s. The décor incorporates African elements and adds to its character. There is a small, intimate lounge with wicker furniture and food is highly praised. Rooms have either double or twin beds and family or triple rooms can be arranged. In the well-maintained gardens, there is a swimming pool with sun-loungers and the restaurant (with terrace overlooking pool) has a well-stocked bar.
This hotel is extremely eco-conscious. Solar water heaters are used for all the showers, reducing the hotel’s electricity consumption. A water catchment system is in place to enable rainwater storage; water can then be pumped into the main tanks. Energy-saving bulbs are utilised, and the hotel uses locally-sourced produce for its restaurant – most fruit and vegetables are cultivated in the manager’s garden. The hotel supports Papercraft, a grass-roots initiative where products such as menu covers, and notebooks are made from recyclable paper, and soaps are made by hand. Papercraft takes all the hotel’s glass and paper waste for recycling.
