Jongomero Romantic Dinner

Africa is such a magical continent, with so much to see there is something for everyone. Whilst it’s known for adventure and safaris, it is also known for romantic getaways and an African honeymoon takes some beating! Here are the top five destinations for you and your loved one to visit.

Franschhoek, Cape Town Winelands

The second location is the Cape Town Winelands, or more specifically, Franschhoek. This small town is steeped in French heritage and the population is less than 20,000 which is ideal for an intimate trip. When staying here you’ll enjoy the finest South African wine while looking out over the most beautiful wine valley in the world – the perfect backdrop for a romantic trip.

Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique

The first location Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique. Its islands, such as Vamizi island, are the perfect destination for couples to take a peaceful sunset walk along the pristine white sands or swim in the warm Indian Ocean waters around the coral reefs. The Mediumbe Island Resort stretches out along the most amazing beach and tidal lagoon.

Victoria Falls, Zambia

If sandy beaches and fine wines don’t make you fall in love, Zambia is home to Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing the colours of the sun catch on the cascading water making for the most romantic scenery. The historic Victoria Falls hotel was built in 1904 and is located right by the water, where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee and take in the magnificent scenery.

Pemba island, Zanzibar

Pemba island, Zanzibar, is perfect for a honeymoon destination, right in the middle of the Indian ocean. Zanzibar is renowned for its stunning white sand beaches. Kwanini, The Manta resort, has the ‘Underwater room’ - a three-story building anchored out in the lagoon. The lower level goes four metres underwater creating a 360-degree view of the ocean which is the perfect setting for a couple to enjoy a drink together.

Lake Malawi

Last but by no means least, Lake Malawi is Africa’s third largest lake, with crystal clear waters that are home to an array of tropical fish. The Nkwichi Lodge is a luxury lodge tucked away in the treeline with a sandy path leading towards the beach. Watch the stars sparkle as you sleep beneath Malawi’s famous midnight sky – just like a scene from the movies.
