An intimate family-orientated safari camp on the banks of a waterhole in a private concession.
Surrounded by beautiful landscapes and an abundance of wildlife, Somalisa Acacia is a wonderful family-focused safari destination. The camp is quite small, with room for just twelve people at a time, allowing for an intimate safari experience. Situated in an area of Hwange National Park that is so regularly frequented by the world’s largest mammal, the park has become known as ‘The home of elephants’. Somalisa Acacia is quite close is Somalisa Camp, however these two properties are run completely separately with different main areas and staff. This camp is accessed by air craft and road transfer.
Accommodation consists of two standard and two large family tented chalets, constructed from sail canvas stretched over sturdy wooden frames. The family tents consist of two standard tents joined together by a corridor and are located nearest to the camp’s main areas. The public areas include an open-sided lounge and dining area, a bar and a swimming pool.
Game drives around the concession and Hwange National Park are available twice a day. Alternatively, you can embark on a bush walk, although if you want to do this in the National Park, children must be 16 years old or above. For younger children, there is plenty of opportunity to go on nature walks around the camp and learn about some of Africa’s smaller species as well as how to identify various animal tracks. Child specialists are on hand to look after children and play games with them while parents have a break.
