Located in the centre of the historic triangle of Bagamoyo, Pangani and Zanzibar, Saadani National Park covers a whopping 1100 km2. It’s handy location makes it ideal for a Tanzania safari and beach holiday for those who don’t wish to travel too far, as it’s the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the sea. The climate is coastal, hot and humid. Saadani offers a unique combination of both marine and mainland flora and fauna in a culturally fascinating setting.
The beaches are lined by coral reefs and are an important area for nesting turtles. The Wami River is a sanctuary for large groups of hippos and crocodiles, and the forested area of the park is home to lions, elephants, leopard, giraffe and the greater kudu as well as a wealth of other plains game.
