Gunn's Camp

Deep in the delta is where the clear water rises out of the desert and gives way to a spectacle of lush diversity: papyrus islands, secret channels and winding waterways. Gunn's Camp, situated on the Boro River, overlooking the legendary Chief's Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, is set under leafy palms, blending naturally with its unique environment to offer comfort balanced by a rustic simplicity. It is a 20 minute flight from Maun or a 2 hour boat ride.

Gunn's Camp accommodation is in six luxury meru tents with en suite bathrooms, colourful fabrics and teak furniture. Tents are set on platforms overlooking the delta flood plains. The main lodge is elevated to make the most of the spectacular views and includes a lounge, dining area, small library with reference books, campfire boma, and small swimming pool. An ideal camp for honeymooners or guests looking for a personal safari experience. Each tent is discretely set within the densely wooded island ensuring privacy and tranquillity.

You will enjoy guided activities such as a mokoro trips and boat safaris (water levels permitting) along the many nearby channels and lagoons. Propelled from the stern by skilled ‘poler’ guides, these trips allow the guest to sit back and absorb the scenery. For full day trips, Gunn’s Camp can prepare delicious picnic lunches, which can be enjoyed on a Delta island after an exhilarating bush walk. Chief's Island offers one of the largest populations of African wildlife in the delta area, and sightings may include lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and a variety of plains game from zebra to red lechwe.
