Named after the river that runs through it, Chobe National Park is the second largest park in Botswana and certainly one of the most impressive. Stretching 200km down from the northern border of Botswana to the Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent, as well as some superb lodges.

Above all, Chobe is famed for being home to Africa’s largest elephant population, with over 120,000 individuals. The floodplains around the Chobe River make an ideal viewing area, and there’s nothing quite so magical as watching the elephants as they trundle down to the water’s edge to bathe, drink and play. You really could spend hours here. Huge herds of buffalo are also frequently spotted during the dry season, and you can also expect to see waterbuck, eland, giraffe and even the rare puku.
