Often referred to as the heart of the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Game Reserve is situated within (and makes up about 40% of) this remarkable wetland, and boasts an abundance of wildlife. As this is a Game Reserve rather than a private concession, there are rules and regulations in place, which means some activities such as walking safaris aren’t available. The flip side of a tailor made Moremi Game Reserve safari is that the wildlife here is so rich you simply must visit, either by staying at a lodge in the reserve, or in a bordering concession. Moremi is home to the big five, nearly 500 species of bird (from water birds to forest dwellers), and a vast array of wildlife including buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyaena, jackal, impala, red lechwe and African wild dog. The largest island in Moremi is ‘Chiefs Island’ which is home to three exclusive camps and a predator population that is the envy of many a park and reserve in Africa.
