Start off with an overnight flight to Johannesburg which allows you to connect on to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, arriving there in the early afternoon. From there you will be transferred upstream to your base for the first few nights of your trip, a delightful lodge on the banks of the mighty Zambezi with glorious river views, amazing activities and incredible facilities. As well as spending time exploring on the river and visiting the Victoria Falls you will be able to enjoy safaris in the Zambezi National Park, a gem of a wildlife viewing area right next to Victoria Falls. Next up is the beautiful Linyanti Concession, a large wetlands are on the western edge of the Etosha National Park, home to amazing wildlife, stunning views and a truly spectacular lodge. After your safari here you will fly south to the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve for the final leg of your trip. Here you can relax in one of the continent’s best lodges which overlooks the game-rich plains of Moremi. With outstanding guides, incredible food and wine as well as an amazing array of activities, you will want for nothing during your stay. Explore on vehicles, in boats and traditional mokoro canoes, as well as on foot in the company of the lodge’s team of guides. Day 1: Flying to Africa

This evening you will be flying overnight to Johannesburg.

Day 2: On to Victoria Falls

Connect through Johannesburg to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe where you will be collected and transferred up to Matetsi Safari Lodge where you will be spending the next 3 nights. This glorious luxury lodge on the edge of the Zambezi River is the perfect spot to start off your Honeymoon, with amazing rooms, a stunning pool area, breathtaking views and access to a huge array of activities. This afternoon will be at leisure to relax or perhaps take a sunset cruise on the river.

Day 3: Your exploration commences

Matetsi offers its guests an incredible array of activities to enjoy, of which visits to the iconic Victoria Falls and boat cruises on the Zambezi River are of course must-dos. In addition to these they offer both game drives and guided walks in the adjacent Zambezi National Park which are a great way to spend some time and canoeing on the river, which is also very popular. The in-house spa offers a range of treatments which are a great way to relax in between your safari activities.

Day 4: Relaxation or exploration

Of course, there will be ample time to relax whilst you are staying here and to enjoy the incredible facilities for which the lodge is renowned. Few swimming pools in Africa command a more idyllic location, whilst the open-sided lounge is the perfect spot to relax with a good book. The food is outstanding and complemented by an excellent wine list, with the genial staff on hand to serve drinks whenever you wish – truly a magical spot to relax and soak up the ambience.

Day 5: On to Botswana and Linyanti

After a leisurely breakfast you will be transferred across the border in to Botswana and to Kasane airport where a light aircraft flight will take you in to the Linyanti Wetlands. Here you will be staying at the outstanding King’s Pool, one of the leading camps in the area and a superb spot from which to explore this wildlife rich and ecologically diverse part of Botswana. Enjoy lunch in the camp before heading out to explore on an afternoon game drive with your guide.

Day 6: Exploring the beautiful Linyanti Wetlands

With so many activities on offer from King’s Pool it can be hard to decide what to do each day, so your guides and camp management are on hand to help you make the most of your time here. Both day and night time game drives are very popular and allow you to see an amazing array of wildlife, whilst the open terrain is ideal for their guided bush walks. The camp also has a number of viewing hides set up in the area, which allow you amazing close up encounters with wildlife, especially elephant.

When staying somewhere as stunning as King’s Pool it would be remiss not to spend some time enjoying the surroundings of the camp. Relax in your beautifully appointed suite with its own sunken decking area or head up to the main lodge, a series of tiered lounge areas with a very relaxed feel to them. The swimming pool is a great spot to relax with staff always able to bring drinks and snacks to you as you soak up the sunshine. Exquisite cuisine is always a feature of stays at King’s Pool so bring your appetite with you.

Day 8: In to the Okavango Delta

The shining star of Botswana’s wildlife areas is the Okavango Delta and no part of it is more desirable to visit than the Moremi Game Reserve. A short flight from Linyanti will take you to this predator-rich wilderness, home to some of the finest safari camps in Africa. Chief amongst these is Xigera Safari Lodge, a truly majestic spot where you will be impeccably well looked-after and enjoy the most extraordinary safari experience that you could dream of.

Xigera offers an incredible array of both land and water-based safari activities, so you will be spoilt for choice of what to do here. Game drives are offered during daylight hours, along with guided walks, boat trips to the fabled Xigera Lagoon and trips in their customised glass-bottomed mokoro canoes. The guides will get you up close and personal with all manner of wildlife and really help to make your safaris a truly incredible and memorable experience.

Day 10: Wildlife and natural wonders

The whole Okavango Delta is a paradise for wildlife, but the large areas of land, surrounded by permanent water mean the area around Xigera is especially productive. Lion and leopard are found in strong numbers in the area, as are elephant and buffalo. The floodplains are home to large numbers of red lechwe and the camp is renowned for offering sightings of the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, which is a symbol of the camp and can be found nesting close by.

Day 11: Enjoy the beauty of the lodge

It is worth dedicating plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings of Xigera as well, from the wonderfully luxurious cocoon of your suite to the beautifully designed main area and swimming pool. There is an excellent spa where you can enjoy a range of treatments whilst the food, accompanied by wines from the owners’ vineyard in South Africa is a treat for the senses. Guests can also browse in the well-stocked curio shop and even purchase the art pieces that adorn the lodge.

Day 12: Time to head home

Your journey home will commence today, but not before you enjoy a final morning safari activity and one of Xigera’s sumptuous brunches. From the lodge a short transfer will take you back to the airstrip for a flight to Maun where you will connect on to Johannesburg and pick up the overnight BA flight back to London Heathrow.
