Xigera Safari Lodge

One of the most enduringly popular camps in Botswana, Xigera is tucked away on the aptly named Paradise Island in the Moremi Game Reserve, the heart of the Okavango Delta. With access to huge tracts of game-rich plains and forests, as well as permanent waterways, it offers one of the most rounded safari experiences in the whole country from what is undoubtedly its leading camp.

Re-opened in December 2020 after an extensive rebuild, Xigera is unashamed in its desire to be the most luxurious, best run and desirable camp in Africa, with few who stay able to disagree with this assertion. The whole camp has been designed to blend in with the natural surroundings, with suites sited to take in the stunning views of the channels and bush beyond the camp. Folding glass doors mean guests can relax with a cool breeze coming in or they can sit out on their covered deck in the afternoons and relax with a good book. Separate lounges are the ideal spot for private dining and the bedrooms come with all the amenities one could wish for, including mini-bars, spacious dressing areas and bathrooms with ecologically friendly toiletries. There is also a two-bedroom family suite for those travelling with children or groups of friends who want to stay together. The main area is a glorious space with an indoor dining area, wine cellar and lounge which looks out over the lagoon. A large decking area leads down to the waters edge and is perfect for alfresco meals, afternoons soaking up the sunshine and after dinner drinks around the campfire. The cuisine is exquisite and a huge feature of any stay here, accompanied by wines from the owners’ renowned vineyard in South Africa.

Xigera offers a wide range of activities, including year-round mokoro canoe safaris in specially built glass-bottomed mokoros as well as boat trips. Game drives are offered throughout the day and timings are flexible to ensure you make the most of your stay. At the lodge there is a swimming pool, spa and wellness centre as well as a star deck with guides on hand to point out the constellations in the night sky. A series of unique African inspired art pieces are on display for guests to enjoy whilst the Baobab Treehouse is a beautiful private dining and overnight sleeping deck.
