Mapula Lodge

Accessed by a 40 minute flight from Maun in a light aircraft, Mapula is a luxurious safari lodge situated just outside the Moremi Game Reserve in the North Eastern area of the Okavango Delta. Being surrounded by floodplains, shallow channels and large islands make its location perfect for embarking on both waterborne and land based activities. The lodge itself is built right next to a permanent lagoon, complete with its own pod of resident hippos. Excellent viewing opportunities are provided by an extensive viewing deck.

Accommodation consists of nine luxury chalets, made of either reed or wood and constructed on raised platforms. The chalets were built with excellent attention to detail and local craftmanship. Each chalet has its own en-suite bathroom and outside shower, as well as one double bed or two singles, a small living area and a private terrace. The main building includes a large traditionally designed lounge and dining area, a bar, a small library and a gift shop. There is also a swimming pool with great bush views, you never know what you might see!

The surrounding area is home to an abundance of wildlife, which is great news for your day and night game drives (private vehicles are available at an additional cost). You can also head out for guided bush walks with experienced trackers and guides and get a bit close to nature. Water based activities take place in either boats or mokoros (traditional canoes), when water levels allow. To learn more about the local culture it's possible to visit an authentic village which is home to most of the staff at the lodge.
