Sustainability
What makes North Island truly special is its “Noah’s Ark” Rehabilitation Programme: an ambitious conservation effort that has successfully removed invasive species (rats, feral animals) and restored forest habitats with native flora. Sea turtle monitoring has run continuously since 1998, with both green and hawksbill turtles nesting in growing numbers. The island also reintroduced endemic bird species (such as the Seychelles White-Eye), and carefully manages its vegetation via an on-island nursery.
