Bird Island is Seychelles’ most northerly island, fringed by untouched beaches and turquoise clear waters.
Location
Set on Bird Island, the northernmost tip of the Seychelles archipelago, this eco-lodge feels a world away from everyday life. Surrounded by white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, it’s a place where nature sets the pace, and you’ll quickly slip into island time.
Rooms
The lodge has 24 simple but spacious bungalows tucked among gardens just steps from the shore. Guests love the airy design, private verandas, and the joy of living unplugged, with sea breezes and birdsong replacing screens and switches.
Amenities
Meals are included and enjoyed communally in the open-sided dining room, with fresh fish and island-grown produce often on the menu. There’s a small bar, a library corner, and plenty of hammocks for lazy afternoons. We love the unpretentious charm and relaxed atmosphere.
Activities
Bird Island is a haven for wildlife. You can walk barefoot around the island, watch giant Aldabra tortoises roam freely, or spot turtles nesting on the beaches. Birdwatching is world-class, and snorkelling in the surrounding lagoon offers a kaleidoscope of marine life. Every day feels like an adventure in nature.
Sustainability
The lodge is entirely focused on conservation. Solar power, rainwater collection, and sustainable building practices keep its footprint light, while revenues support local wildlife protection programmes. The island runs long-standing programmes to protect and monitor the Hawksbill and Green turtles, tagging hundreds of nesting females and guarding their nests during hatching season. They also care for vast seabird colonies, especially the Sooty Terns that return in their thousands between May and September, and the Long-tailed Tropicbird which nests on the ground near trees.
