The quintessential bare-foot luxury camp
Location
Set on a bend of the Luwi River, Nsolo is one of South Luangwa’s most charming and remote camps. This part of the valley feels wonderfully wild and unspoilt, with no other camps for miles.
Rooms
With just four open-fronted thatched chalets, Nsolo is all about intimacy and simplicity, done beautifully. The rooms are raised on wooden decks, overlooking the surrounding lagoon, with soft beds, open-air en-suites, and shaded verandas perfect for birdwatching with a coffee in hand.
Amenities
At the heart of camp is the open-air lounge and dining area, shaded beneath ancient trees. Meals are relaxed and sociable – think candlelit dinners beneath the stars and shared stories around the campfire. There’s no Wi-Fi or swimming pool, but that’s very much the point. Guests love how grounded and personal it feels – a place to properly switch off.
Activities
This is walking safari country. Days here are centred around guided walks with some of the best naturalists in Zambia, as well as game drives if you prefer. Wildlife is abundant, but it’s the quieter moments – tracking lion spoor on foot, learning the call of a distant bird – that often stay with you longest. You can also walk between sister camps as part of a multi-day mobile experience.
Sustainability
Nsolo Camp is at the heart of Time + Tide’s meaningful approach to conservation and community impact. As part of the Luangwa Conservation & Community Fund (LCCF), the camp contributes vital annual funding - over $170,000 across partner lodges - to Conservation South Luangwa for anti-poaching patrols, snare removal, aerial surveillance, K9 units, and wildlife rescue effort. Nsolo also supports several education and empowerment initiatives - the Kapani School Project sponsors more than 80 students, their girls’ club boosts confidence and school retention.
