Track and Trail River Camp

Track and Trail River Camp is set on the banks of the Luangwa River only a five-minute drive from the main entrance of the 9050km² South Luangwa National Park. As a small camp, the atmosphere is intimate, and the riverfront location is beautiful. An owner run lodge, specialised in photographic safaris and offering guests all the comforts whilst in the untouched African wilderness. The down-to-earth atmosphere and naturally-designed architecture make this a relaxing safari destination. Buffalo are abundant and wild dog are not uncommon, over 400 bird species, elephant, hippo, giraffe, lion, leopard and hyena are regularly sighted.

The camp is made up of nine chalets scattered along the river bank or surrounded by natural vegetation. Four chalets are double storey, set right on the riverfront, ideal for families. Two chalets are single storey and three luxury safari tents are on raised platforms. Track and Trails also offers a campsite with more raised platforms to pitch a tent for the night. We love that the restaurant is an international mix of dishes with variable specialties, and for those seeking more adventure at the dining table – ask for your own table bbq to choose and prepare the food just the way you like it. The campfire is a sociable place to enjoy a vodka and lime, Track and Trail’s ‘unofficial’ official drink!

Track and Trail River Camp is very well equipped with a bush house spa, riverfront swimming pool, bar and restaurant, creative outdoor gym, curio shop and internet. Suitable for family safaris, there is something for everyone on site, not to mention safari activities nearby! Game drives are offered morning (leaving at 06h00 until 10h00) and night (leaving at 16h00 until 20h00). Special interest, walking safaris or photographic safaris are keenly offered, ensuring a personalised safari experience for guests at Track and Trails. Lastly, all day safaris are offered for those who want to enjoy a picnic lunch in a chosen shady spot, and to explore miles of wilderness and the abundance and variety of its inhabitants.
