Luwi Camp

Luwi Camp, part of Norman Carr Safaris, is a remote bush camp situated deep in the heart of the South Luangwa National Park, on the seasonal Luwi River. The camp is close to a large lagoon that attracts wildlife from far and wide providing a flow of animals through the camp. The camp can be reached by a scenic two-hour drive from Mfuwe Airport, following a one-hour flight from Lusaka, Zambia or Lilongwe, Malawi. It is approx. 25 mins from it's sister bush camp Nsolo Camp.

The accommodation at Luwi Camp consists of five chalets built with grass, bamboo and thatch, giving an authentic African bush feel. The bedrooms are comfortable and functional with a rustic style. The en-suite bathrooms have open ceilings and are very spacious. With no electricity at the camp, solar lanterns provide a source of light. The main area is an open-sided thatched building that provides a bar, library and communal seating and dining area.

The Luwi area is famous for its lions and wild dogs and the thrill of tracking them on foot is an experience not to be missed. Sleep-outs under the stars are offered here during the later months of the year. There is also a hoppo hide a short distance from the vamp which looks out over the lagoon and the wildlife that frequent it. Though the focus is on walking safaris, with a particular highlight being a walk from Luwi to its sister camp, Nsolo, game drives are provided as well.
