Boat Safaris, Walking and Fly Camping in the Selous

Sand Rivers has a reputation for being one of the best game lodges in Africa and it does not disappoint. Lying on the banks of the Rufiji River, it has enormous rooms and offers an exciting array of activities including boat trips up the river. Sand Rivers are also renowned for their Walking Safaris in Tanzania and their Fly Camping operation.

Ballooning in the Serengeti.

Taking off at dawn and rising with the sun, a balloon safari provides a unique perspective on the wildlife below and offers great photographic opportunities. Flights last for about one hour and landing is celebrated in the traditional manner with champagne and a full English breakfast served in the bush.

Walking Safaris

Walking safaris with WAYO in Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, and walking and fly camping safaris in Tarangire National Park offer a very different experience to the traditional Serengeti Safari and the guiding is superb. A great way to enjoy this landscape.

Climbing Kilimanjaro

Keen on conquering the snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain at 5,895 metres? We arrange private and group ascents and only work with climb operators who agree to our own porter policy. The best times to go are January and February, and July to October. Have a look at our Kilimanjaro page for more information.

Chimpanzee Tracking

The Mahale Mountains National Park lies on the sandy shores of lake Tanganyika, the world's longest lake, and offers the best chimpanzee tracking in all of Africa. Many of the thousand strong population are so habituated to humans that they may even brush past you as they groom, wrestle, feed and play.
