Vumbura Plains Camp is a luxury camp situated to the north of Mombo, in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta. The Vumbura Reserve offers both land and water activities in a park that has a wonderful variety of habitats and a great diversity of wildlife. The reserve offers an enormous traversing area of close on 130 000 acres.
Vumbura Plains is two camps, North and South, each with seven suites. All of the luxury rooms at Vumbura are raised off the ground on wooden platforms with walkways connecting them to the main living areas. Two of the rooms are designed to accommodate families. Each room has a large, very comfortable bedroom, a lounge, and en-suite facilities with a shower, a flush toilet and an outdoor shower under the stars. Each room has its own plunge pool and 'sala' – a place from which to watch the passing parade of wildlife or indulge in a soothing massage.
Year-round activities will include 50% game drives, 50% water activities (but can change depending on flood levels). Land based game drives in 4-wheel drive Land Rovers. Walks can be arranged on nearby islands on request. Water game viewing in mokoro (a traditional dug-out canoe) could even see you catch a glimpse of a Pel’s fishing-owl. The habitat mix means just about every species found in the Okavango can be seen.
