Meet Sophie

For me everyone should have the chance to experience the world in a way that works for them. Travelling isn’t just visiting a place, but how you want to visit it, and why, amongst many other questions. This is what makes a trip truly unforgettable.

After leaving the museums and heritage sector, I had the exciting opportunity to join the travel industry, bringing with me a wealth of knowledge of age-old cultures and events. So, it’s no surprise my fascination with Asia stems from this, with my favourite destinations taking-in history and culture as well as unimaginably beautiful scenery and amazing animals.

While picking top destinations from this amazing continent is almost impossible, my personal favourites would be Bali, Borneo and Singapore.

Bali’s stunning temples and lush landscapes never fail to amaze me! Visiting the Ulun Danu Temple or the ‘floating temple’ on a misty morning or during a beautiful sunset instantly imbues peace, whilst a trip to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud can’t fail to bring a smile to your face.

Singapore, a city of contrasts - I love how you can experience a modern metropolis whilst soaking up some history and nature. Where else can you see Malay heritage, drink a world-famous Singapore Sling, and be inspired by unique design like Gardens By The Bay!

Borneo is the world’s third-largest island and has outstanding nature and wildlife experiences. My favourite activity in Borneo is seeing the tiny Sun Bears at Sepilok - the world's smallest bear is sure so make you smile. The famous sea stack formations at Bako National Park, or the stunning Pe’an and Susung Waterfalls at Bengoh Dam, instantly connect you to this beautiful country.

Asia never fails to amaze and inspire!

My favourite trip

Landscapes of the Golden Circle

For our first post-COVID trip, my partner and I spent a long weekend in Iceland. The jaw-dropping landscapes of the Golden Circle and the Northern Lights were just spectacular. And though our spa day at the Blue Lagoon featured hours of hailstones (no beautiful sunsets like in the pictures), it was still such a memorable experience drinking champagne in the natural waters with the wind beating down on you, which is a testament to how amazing this place really is.
