The itinerary…
Day 1: Take to the skies!
Fly from wherever you are to Sri Lanka. From the UK the best option is overnight with Sri Lankan Airlines.
Day 2: Welcome to Sri Lanka!

Relax in Negombo
We will be waiting to meet you on your arrival in Colombo. Meet your chauffeur guide who will be with you for your entire trip in Sri Lanka. Your first stop is a nearby hotel on the coast near Negombo, where you can freshen up and relax after your journey. Settle in to laidback Sri Lankan life, or pop out to the nearby beaches and markets.
Day 3: To Sigiriya

Sigiriya Rock
Today’s drive to Sigiriya will take you about 4.5 hours. It’s a beautiful drive with plenty stops to refresh with a king coconut or two. Check into your hotel and relax.
Day 4: Climb Sigiriya rock and see elephants in Minneriya

Elephants in Minneriya
Get up early to avoid the crowds climbing the spectacular Sigiriya rock, and explore the ruins of this fascinating and incredibly beautiful 5th century rock citadel. The painted frescoes in the caves are stunning.
Later on we will take you for a game drive in Minneriya National Park, where elephants gather together to drink by the ancient royal reservoir. If you’re lucky you might also catch a glimpse of a sloth bear or a leopard.
Day 5: To Kandy, via Dambulla and Matale

Kandy
Today’s drive to Kandy takes about 3 hours, stopping on the way at the amazing ancient cave temple complex in Dambulla - the "Caves of Infinite Buddhas" - and the spice gardens in Matale.
Check in to your hotel in the charming hill town of Kandy and put your feet up.
Day 6: Kandy

Temple of the Tooth
Today we will take you out to explore historic Kandy, including the Temple of the Tooth and the Royal Botanical Gardens. Kandy is known as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka and is a great town to stroll around (the old town is itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Day 7: Train ride to Hill Country – Nuwara Eliya

Train ride to Nuwara Eliya
Get ready for one of the most beautiful train journey in the world. The journey from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya takes about four hours through green hills, forests and tea plantations. Your destination is Nuwara Eliya, a British hill station from the colonial period that still feels like a bit of olde England frozen in time. Notice how the climate is much cooler.
Day 8: Nuwara Eliya, "Little England"

Nuwara Eliya
Explore Nuwara Eliya at your own pace – have high tea at the Grand Hotel or stroll around Lake Gregory. You can also do a trek in Horton Plains National Park, a beautiful area of high grasslands and cloud forests.
Day 9: Drive to the South Coast

Ahangama, one of many beaches on the south coast
Today’s drive to Sri Lanka’s South Coast takes approximately 6 hours as you descend the hills with some stunning scenery long the way. We have hand-picked a selection of accommodation across the south coast to choose from to suite your tastes and budget. Speak to us about which hotel would be best for your holiday. This will be your base for the next few days’ chilling and exploring this beautiful coastline.
Days 10 to 12: South Coast

Charming town of Galle
Spend your last few days enjoying the seaside or your pool, stroll around the charming town of Galle, or head out for some whale watching at Mirissa. We can arrange anything you fancy, and you have your car and chauffeur guide at your disposal for exploring.
