Set on a beautiful 50-acre coconut and spice farm with jaw dropping mountain views, this boutique hotel was built by Kevin, a farmer from Suffolk, in memory of his father who taught him about organic farming. An intimate and private retreat, Jim’s Farm Villas is located between Kandy and Dambulla, not far from the Cultural Triangle sites. There are three villas with 14 double bedrooms, and in-house dining on traditional Sri Lankan cuisine using fresh seasonal produce from the organic gardens.
Around the farm you'll discover coconut palms, bananas, mango and papaya trees and other crops such as cinnamon and pepper that provide shade as well as fresh fruit and spices that can be enjoyed by guests. An organic farm wouldn't be complete without a few animals, so keep an eye out for the free-range chickens whose eggs you'll be enjoying at breakfast. They also have their own cows to provide milk. Staff are friendly and super helpful, and the chef will even show you how to make an authentic Sri Lankan curry using fresh farm ingredients. Meals are communal, giving guests the opportunity to socialise and get to know owner Kevin who often drops by for a chat. All this makes for a friendly and homely environment.
Spend the days exploring the farm and enjoy a spot of bird watching - it's been rumoured that around 100 species have been spotted here throughout the different seasons. Alternatively you can hike to the local temple which isn't far from the farm, or enjoy a massage or spa session with the resident Ayurvedic doctor.
