Less than 10 minutes in a tuk tuk, Villa Rosa is a welcome retreat from the bustle of Kandy Town. Situated high above the Mahaweli River, it's a great place to enjoy stunning views and lots of local wildlife. The eight bedrooms are beautifully decorated, each with en-suite bathrooms and views of either the valley opposite or the river. The rooms include one single, five doubles and two suites for family and friends. Almost all the rooms have a private balcony and there are numerous outdoor spaces from which to soak up the view.
When staying here after a long walk or full day excursions, you can relax by adding massage and yoga sessions to your itinerary or take a dip in the pool at the Cinnamon Citadel just a little way along the river. Dining at Villa Rosa is an authentic Sri Lankan experience, with excellent traditional and Western cuisine on offer.
Villa Rosa makes an excellent base for exploring Kandy, where you can visit the famous Temple of the Tooth, and take a walk around the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which boast about 4000 species of trees. Other options include visiting the Garrison Cemetery or venture out for half day trips into tea country (Nurwara Eliya is highly recommended), where you can take part in guided tours and discover the process behind the delicious Ceylon tea.
