A remote safari camp offering simplicity with luxurious touches, and exceptional animal sightings
Under the same ownership as Buhoma Lodge in Bwindi, and Bakers Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park, this outstanding camp is beautifully appointed in a remote locality on the bank of the Ntungwe River.
Each of the ten spacious, canvas-tented rooms has a private veranda, en-suite bathroom with hot ‘bush’ showers; running water for hand-basins, and a flushing ‘eco-friendly’ toilet. They are comfortably furnished with large mosquito-netted beds. Meals are often served al fresco by the riverside and an outdoor fireplace beckons guests keen to relax with sun-downer in hand.
Ishasha Wilderness Camp is the place to see the tree-climbing lions which laze about in the fig trees. The camp offers early morning and late afternoon game drives, either in your own safari vehicle, or the camp’s open safari vehicle, but being the only camp within the park, drive times can be flexible, allowing guests to maximise their game sightings. Bush breakfasts and afternoon sundowners can be arranged at a suitable viewing point either along the ridge area or besides the Ntungwe River, depending on the weather. The camp also provides excellent birding and walking safaris, cruises on the Kazinga channel, as well as chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge.
