Arabesque design camp with panoramic views over the East Bank of the Nile on the northern boundary of Murchison Falls National Park.
With panoramic views over the East Bank of the Nile, this distinct mid-range property is just outside the northern boundary of Murchison Falls National Park. The distinctive Arabesque design incorporates a tower and earthen-coloured walls, which gives it a Swahili touch.
There are 12 spacious en-suite bedrooms with fans; hot water is generated by solar heating. Each has a private balcony with sofa. There are also tents on solid concrete and stone platforms under thatch roofs. Each has two single beds with mosquito nets, a bedside table and a power outlet. Guests in tents use a communal bathroom block with showers and flushing toilets. Clean bedding, linen and towels are provided.
Sundowners are taken on the rooftop terrace where guests can enjoy river views. As is the case in some other Ugandan waterside properties the simple, no-frills restaurant is indoors because of lake-flies which are active at night. In keeping with environmentally friendly practises, the lodge uses solar fridges and freezers. In its vegetable garden and fruit orchard an assortment of citrus and tropical fruits is grown. An advantage for guests is that game drives are taken in Buligi, the most rewarding section of the national park for viewing wildlife. Please note that guests must have a prearranged vehicle as the lodge does not have its own. Boat cruises are also on offer, as is chimp tracking along trails in Kaniyo Pabidi and Rabongo Forests.
