Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area - situated in the Ngorongoro Crater rim valley. It’s one of the closest camps to the access road into the crater, giving guests unrivalled access to the crater floor, making it perfect for more private early morning safaris.
The area is home to a large assortment of animals including zebra, rhino, buffalo, warthog, wildebeest, hippo and elephants; and a large population of predators – leopards, lions, hyenas, jackals and cheetahs.
Cultural activities are available in the nearby Masai village (there is an additional entrance fee of $50 per vehicle, maximum 6 guests, payable to the village)
The Tents
The camp offers ten classic safari tents - each with its own en-suite bathroom and indoor bucket shower, with personal tent attendant filling your bucket shower to the perfect temperature whenever required from the outside. The tents also feature full electrics points and a veranda area to the front where early morning coffee and biscuits can be enjoyed before starting the day of incredible game viewing. The main common areas include a dining area, bar and lounge area as well as comfortable sofas placed in specially selected locations around the camp.
Dining at Sanctuary Crater Camp
The three large and comfortable communal tents provide a dining area where meals are served, a lounge area perfect for afternoon relaxation, and lounge bar where pre-dinner drinks are served. All of the main areas have breath taking views of the spectacular scenery and large trees surrounding this intimate camp.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in your stay, and dining is buffet style in the camp. On early morning game drives, enjoy a packed breakfast in the heart of the bush, heading back to the lodge for a late lunch; or leave after an early breakfast and indulge in a scrumptious packed lunch enjoyed whilst on a full day game drive. For a more intimate experience you can choose to dine on individual tables set in secluded spots around camp.
