Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

The Ngorongoro Serena consists of a cosy cluster of buildings that hug the western rim of the largest and most perfect volcanic crater on earth. As a UNSECO world heritage site the crater offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time.

Accommodation comprises of 75 rooms, strung out along the rim, each with its own balcony. The rooms are cosy without being small and have big en-suite bathrooms with a walk-in shower. As a larger hotel this doesn’t necessarily provide the immersive safari experience however is it is a great place for families and those who prefer a hotel as opposed to a camp experience.

There is no pool at the lodge, nevertheless more active guests can take a guided walk along the crater rim, or follow the gentle nature trail that loops around the lodge. Massages can also be arranged and as with all the Serena properties, the food and the service here are very good. But that’s by-the-by because the real reason you come here is for the spectacular views of one of the Wonders of the World, and daily game drives within the Ngorongoro crater itself.
