Babylonstoren is located in the Boschendal area of the Cape Wineland. This lovely Cape Dutch farmstead dates back to 1690. It is best known for its restaurant and gardens, but also offers accommodation in the farm hotel. Its magnificent garden is laid out over eight acres, and divided into 15 sections that comprise fruit, vegetables, berries, bees for pollinating, indigenous plants, fragrant lawns, a prickly pear maze, ducks and chickens, and more. The garden also boasts a plethora of trees of historical and botanical import. Every aspect of Babylonstoren – including the contemporary Farm Hotel & Spa, the Farm Shop and Bakery – are led by the ever-changing tapestry and botanical diversity of the garden.
At Babylonstoren’s Farm Hotel & Spa, the overall effect is relaxed yet well-heeled, with some of the existing farm buildings transformed into sophisticated accommodation. There are six one-bedroom suites, as well as three one-bedroom cottages and four two-bedroomed cottages. The Farmhouse includes nine suites. These all have access to an outdoor swimming pool and a hot spa area that includes a salt room, sauna and vitality pool as well as a lounge area and spa beach!
The working farm is a perfect place to relax and makes a fabulous base from which to explore The Winelands. The farm is spread over 500 acres where you can enjoy guided walks around the grounds or simply stroll at your leisure. There is a spa on site, a gym to use and you can either swim or take a boat out in the dam. Picnic lunches and dinners can be arranged, as can sundowners over a glass of the local wine.
