Franschhoek Country House & Villas

Set in the picturesque wine-producing valley of Franschhoek, and surrounded by vineyards and mountains, this restored manor house and former perfumery dating back to 1890, is a perfect place from which to explore the winelands of the Western Cape. Set on the original site of Franschhoek's first parfumerie, is the acclaimed Monneaux Restaurant, a Cape culinary classic. The ambience is one of a French provincial village, complete with water features, fountains, cobblestone, olive trees and of course grape vines! All suites enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, fountain courtyard and swimming pools.

The original Franschhoek Country House offers 14 luxury rooms - most lead out onto balconies or private patios. All rooms include satellite TV, direct dial telephone, overhead fans and en-suite bathroom. In addition, there are 12 villa suites, each of which consists of an entrance portico leading into a large, well-appointed lounge. French doors lead you into the bedroom and both rooms open onto a large private balcony. Fireplaces and under-floor heating to the lounge, bedroom, bathroom and even the showers ensure you are cosy and warm in the winter.

First and foremost, Franschhoek is about food and wine – and lots of it! In addition to the Franschhoek Wine Valley the Stellenbosch and Paarl wine routes are both within a scenic half an hour’s drive of Franschhoek offering an even wider choice. The wine routes are easy to navigate; however, we can easily arrange a guided wine and cellar tour on your behalf should you prefer! A number of golf courses are nearby, notably Stellenbosch golf course. Try the wine tasting tour on horseback, horse riding in the mountains, rent a bicycle to cycle through the charming village, go hiking in the mountains, hot air ballooning close by or ziplining in Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve.
