Location
When it comes to choosing somewhere to stay in Franschhoek, in the Winelands of South Africa, Avondrood should always be high on your list to consider, not least because of its glorious location, a short stroll from Huguenot Street, the home to Franschhoek’s amazing array of restaurants, cafes and boutiques.

Rooms
With just eight individually styled bedrooms, Avondrood is small enough to offer a truly personalised level of service, but large enough to ensure there is a lovely buzz about the property, even in the quieter times. The rooms are all lovely and spacious, with sizeable en-suite bathrooms and all of the amenities that you could wish for.

Amenities
Outside there is a nicely sized swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers for relaxing in the afternoons and soaking up the warm Cape sunshine. The management here are very hands on and will help you to plan days out, including which wineries to visit and will happily recommend and book restaurants for you as well. The breakfasts here are superb and will help set you up for a day of exploring and wine tasting.

In an area where there are so many small, owner-run places to choose from, Avondrood really does stand out, offering a true boutique feel, superb service and a location that is hard to match – a wonderful place to stay that we heartily recommend.

Activities
Guests love to stroll or cycle into Franschhoek village, just moments away, perfect for browsing art galleries, boutique shops, or seasonal markets. Local cycling and hiking routes offer beautiful escapes among vineyards and Wemmershoek mountain scenery. Back at the guest house, unwind by the saltwater pool, soak in the heated Jacuzzi, or enjoy a quiet evening curled up in the lounge with a board game, a glass of wine, or even a movie night with live music

Sustainability
Guests are invited to reuse towels if they wish, and the availability of bicycles encourages easy, low-impact exploring. Most importantly, Avondrood only collaborates with partners who share its commitment to the environment, wildlife protection, and meaningful community support.
