There are a vast variety of aquatic plants, papyrus reeds, tree ferns, climbing plants, as well as palm trees that are home to humming birds, lemurs, malachite kingfishers, Malagasy foudis and even the rrongo.
The forest is also home to many animal species such as the famous Sifaka lemur, the bird of paradise, chameleon and Cuvier’s oplure (a type of iguana). The luxury Anjajavy lodge has signposted trails through the reserve, coastline and fishing villages that you can follow alone or with a guide to get a fantastic understanding of your surroundings.
Sea life here is superb and some of the best on the island. Go snorkelling along the coral reef, or take out a canoe and explore the mangroves on an Anjajavy holiday. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Madagascan fish eagle. Other included activities include catamaran trips, wind-surfing, mountain biking, badminton, volley ball, and French bowls. There are also plenty of fishing excursions – big game and fly-fishing - for an additional cost. Or of course, you can just relax by the pool!
