The Sarova Stanley is in a central location in Nairobi city with easy access to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport. It provides a comfortable retreat for weary travellers on long journeys.
The hotel is steeped in history with the original property built in 1902. As soon as you enter through the traditional rotating door you are transported to a different time with the rich, dark wooden interior. The 212 en-suite rooms are all air-conditioned and comfortably furnished with modern amenities married to the original character. For your evening meal I highly recommending visiting the hotel’s Thai Chi restaurant which serves extremely tasty, authentic Thai food (there are plenty of mild options for those not a fan of hot spices!). You can then have a night cap at the Exchange Bar famous for being the first Stock Exchange in Nairobi. Breakfast is served in the Thorn Tree Café which features a living acacia tree which was famously used by travellers to pin messages to as they passed through the city. They still have a message board where you can add your own note.
Other facilities on site include a heated swimming pool on the fifth floor, a state-of-the-art health club, and spa services. The hotel can also arrange excursions such as a day trip to the Nairobi National Park. Close to the hotel are many city sights including parliament buildings, museum and gallery. During my stay I enjoyed the friendly and informative tour, the tasty and varied food and spacious, comfortable accommodation. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxury stopover or for those wanting a great place to stay while they explore the many sights Nairobi has to offer.
