The Okavango Delta is one of those places that make you realise just how incredible the world is, and anyone who ventures here will enjoy a truly unique safari holiday with thriving wildlife to discover and unusual landscapes to explore. Created by a plate tectonic shift, this vast inland delta is one of the largest on earth, creating a wetland oasis in the otherwise inhospitable Kalahari basin. Where land and delta meet, a mosaic of water-channels, grasslands, forests and lagoons provide an extremely rich and diverse habitat for a multitude of animals, including the elusive sitatunga antelope, as well as large numbers of hippo, crocodile, elephant and buffalo. Predators are particularly well represented, with healthy populations of lion, cheetah and leopard, as well as the endangered wild-dog. It’s a birders paradise too.
The Okavango Delta has been split into numerous private concessions which are leased and managed by safari operators, all of whom adhere to strict environmental standards, ensuring the region remains unspoiled and exclusive.
