This itinerary is designed to showcase what Zimbabwe is all about – incredible wildlife found in some of the most dramatic settings on earth with safaris accompanied by some of the best guides you will find anywhere in Africa. From Victoria Falls you will be flow down to the open plains of the Hwange National Park, one of the finest places to see elephant on the planet, with more unusual animals such as roan and sable also found there. From Hwange your adventure by air continues, taking you to the vast and imposing Lake Kariba and the stunning Bumi Hills Safari Lodge. The final leg of the adventure takes you in to the iconic Mana Pools National Park, home to a huge variety of animal life and dominated by dramatic views across the area’s lifeline – the mighty Zambezi River.

Day 1: Take to the skies

Fly overnight from London, via Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.

Day 2: Hwange awaits

Arriving in to Victoria Falls at lunchtime you will be whisked down to the Hwange National Park by light aircraft and enjoy a game drive to take you through to your lodge – Somalisa Camp. You will arrive in time for afternoon tea and have some time to settle in before heading out for an afternoon game drive, a great way to orientate yourself with the park.

Days 3 & 4: Exploring by vehicle...or on foot

Your time in Hwange will be a wonderous time, with game drives, guided walks, birding safaris and village visits all on offer from Somalisa. Along the way you will see lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah and wild dog, as well as possibly stately roan and sable antelope, two of Hwange’s most iconic sights.

Day 5: Flying to Kariba

Having enjoyed a final morning safari and brunch in Hwange you will be transferred back to the airstrip for a flight up to Lake Kariba – the arrival is truly dramatic as the vast lake appears on the horizon and looms ever larger the closer you get. Arriving at Bumi Hills Safari Lodge late in middle of the afternoon is perfect as you can sit back and relax on the decking area and watch the sun set over the Lake.

Days 6 & 7: Exploring beautiful Kariba

With some many activities on offer, you won’t be short of things to do to fill your time at Bumi Hills. Of course lake-based activities are an important part of the daily programme, with boat safaris, fishing trips and sunset drinks cruises all on offer. They also offer game drives in the Matusadona National Park also on offer and a wonderful way to spend part of your time here.

Day 8: Mana Pools bound

The flight schedule allows you to spend most of today at Bumi Hills, enjoying lunch on the deck before being taken to the airstrip for the stunning flight along the Zambezi escarpment to the Mana Pools National Park. From the airstrip you will be drive to the stunningly-appointed Zambezi Expeditions Camp, a lovely spot overlooking the Zambezi River and the ideal place to round off your adventure through Zimbabwe.

Days 9 & 10: Big game and beautiful backdrops

Mornings at Zambezi Expeditions start with breakfast by the campfire before you head out to explore with your guide. This is one of Africa’s premier walking safari destinations, so make sure you enjoy at least one walk, whilst game drives and canoeing safaris along the mighty Zambezi are also on offer. For those so inclined, there will even be the chance to fish for Tiger Fish from the banks of the river – a perfect afternoon activity.

Day 11: Homeward bound

Departing Mana Pools this morning you will be flown back to Harare for your flights back to London, routed via Johannesburg.

Day 12: Welcome home!

Arrive in to London early this morning after an exhilarating safari adventure through Zimbabwe.
