Xugana Island Lodge Deck

Xugana Island Lodge

A wonderfully romantic camp tucked away on a private island in the heart of the Okavango Delta

The perfect safari lodge for a Botswana Honeymoon

If you are looking for a true Botswana water experience then Xugana is the ideal choice with year-round access to boat and mokoro activities

Xugana Island Lodge is nestled on a private island overlooking a permanent lagoon in the heart of its own concession in the Okavango Delta. The location means the lodge has access to water throughout the year making it one of the prime choices for visitors looking to enjoy one of the Okavango Delta’s iconic “wet” camps.

Each of the 8 suites is shaded in a grove of trees and directly overlooks the lagoon, making them especially alluring as the sun is setting across the bush. The hardwood floors help to keep them cool even in the peak of summer and the private decks at the front of each suite are the perfect spot to relax in the afternoons and watch the world go by. En-suite bathrooms come with all of the amenities you could wish for and there is a view out over the lagoon from the showers which is a lovely touch. The main area has a high thatched roof and open sides to take advantage of the views and is a great spot to spend time in the afternoons, with staff always on hand to serve drinks. The food is especially good here and the lodge management team will always try and serve meals outside if the weather allows. A sparkling swimming pool offers a welcome escape from the afternoon heat and is a very peaceful place to spend some time.

Whilst Xugana is regarded as a “wet” camp, with a focus on boat safaris, mokoro canoe trips and fishing excursions, it also offers land-based activities such as day and night time game drives as well as walking safaris, with all activities conducted in the large, game-rich private concession that the lodge is found in.
