Wild Coast Tented Lodge

Hidden away on the shoreline of Yala National Park, this stunning lodge blends in seamlessly with the landscape making guests feel like they're nestled in nature. The arched cocoon tented suites have been constructed with a bamboo exterior so they look like they belong to the rocky outcrop. Each has been carefully created to give the feeling of privacy and luxury, using natural colours, teak floors and dark leather details to give a glimpse of what life on colonial expeditions was all about. The secluded cocoons are dotted around watering holes with front row seats from your viewing deck.

The dining pavilion is a beautiful sight with a bar and fusion-cuisine restaurant space that open onto an open swimming pool where you can cool down, that is if you get tired of your own private plunge pool! By night the pathway to the beach comes alive with romantic lanterns and it's a great place to go for sundowner cocktails whilst listening to the waves lapping the shore. There's also a spa that harnesses fresh ocean breezes where the expert masseuse will get to work with oils made from local ingredients such as Ceylon tea and cinnamon.

There's plenty to keep you busy during your stay at Wild Coast Tented Lodge, from exploring the beach and walking along the coastline, to twice daily game drives into Yala where you have a good chance of spotting a leopard. There are also two nearby temples that you can visit - try and see the Katargama Temple during the evening pooja, it's a beautiful experience with all the lights, dancing and chanting. The second must-see temple is Tissamaharama Raja Mahavira, which is very close to camp and has an impressive pagoda as well as several surrounding historical ruins.
