Troutbeck Resort

The Troutbeck Resort is a luxurious hotel in Nyanga, deep in Zimbabwe’s stunning Eastern highlands, an area that, due to its mountains and rolling green hills has been likened to the Highlands of Scotland (minus the rain and cold weather). The inn has a pleasant, gentrified feeling not unlike that of a country club and offers excellent service, beautiful accommodation and a wide range of fun activities. Children are welcome at this hotel, and there is good disabled access. Troutbeck Resort is accessed via a three hour drive from Harare.

Accommodation comprises spacious, beautifully furnished rooms, with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV and facilities for making teas and coffees. There is a choice between king-sized, double and twin beds and there is a family suite ideal for travellers with children. Main areas include a large dining room with indoor and outdoor seating, the Hare and Hound Bar, complete with a log fire place and beautiful sprawling gardens.

Activities at this hotel include hiking in the beautiful Nyanga mountains or visiting one of the area’s several waterfalls or viewpoints. Alternatively, you can explore the surrounding countryside on horseback. If you bring your own fishing equipment, you can fish for trout in the nearby lake. Anything that you catch can be handed over to the kitchen staff who will prepare it for your dinner. You do not have to leave the hotel in order to take part in fun activities. You can play a few games of squash or tennis on the on-site courts or have a game of golf on the inn’s beautiful 18 hole course. There is a children’s play area and games room and the resort offers a baby-sitting service.
