This resort is a perfect place to go to relax and explore the Nyanga area of Zimbabwe’s Eastern Highlands.
Location
The Troutbeck Resort is a luxurious hotel in Nyanga, deep in Zimbabwe’s stunning Eastern highlands, an area that, due to its mountains and rolling green hills has been likened to the Highlands of Scotland (minus the rain and cold weather). The inn has a pleasant, gentrified feeling not unlike that of a country club and offers excellent service, beautiful accommodation and a wide range of fun activities. Children are welcome at this hotel, and there is good disabled access. Troutbeck Resort is accessed via a three hour drive from Harare.
Rooms
The resort offers around 70 well‑appointed rooms, including Standard Twin, Standard Double, Deluxe and Executive rooms, plus accessible options, each with complimentary Wi‑Fi, hairdryer, heating and thoughtful amenities. Many overlook the lake and golf course through large windows or from private balconies, blending comfort with relaxed views across the estates’ lawns and water.
Facilities
Troutbeck’s communal spaces are social and inviting, anchored by its famous log fire, burning since the hotel opened in 1947. Dining venues include The Beck Restaurant (buffet or à la carte), the Sun Lounge and Terrace for snacks and traditional high teas, and the Hare and Hound Bar, a cosy pub serving local and international drinks. The resort also caters for conferences, weddings and private events with flexible venues and scenic garden options.
Activities
There’s plenty to keep you engaged. On‑site pursuits include a 9‑hole golf course, swimming pool, tennis, squash, volleyball, bowling and child‑friendly play areas, while the lake invites boat cruises, canoeing and pedal boating. Elsewhere, horse riding, guided mist walks around the lake, trout fishing, quad biking, mountain biking, hiking and fly fishing are on offer. Nearby attractions such as World’s View, Nyangombe, Nyamziwa and Mtarazi Falls add scenic excursions within easy reach.
Sustainability
Troutbeck Resort is rooted in its countryside setting, with gardens and outdoor spaces that celebrate local landscape and heritage while supporting surrounding communities through tourism and employment in this classic Eastern Highlands destination.
