Keeping the world wild – and travel a force for good

At Far & Wild, responsible travel isn’t a side project; it’s at the heart of who we are. Every trip we create is guided by the belief that travel, done right, can protect wild places, empower local communities, and inspire meaningful change.

From pioneering the world’s first carbon scoring system for tailor-made holidays to creating sustainably focused guidebooks and supporting community-led conservation projects, we’re constantly looking for ways to leave the destinations we love better than we found them.

1% for the Planet

We’re proud members of 1% for the Planet — a global alliance of businesses committed to giving 1% of their annual turnover to environmental causes. Since 2023, we’ve donated $50 per traveller to charities supporting wildlife, communities, and conservation in the places we know best.

But our involvement goes beyond financial contributions. It’s about aligning our daily decisions with our values — making climate-conscious choices, dedicating time and expertise to projects we believe in, and ensuring our business is part of a global movement protecting the future of our planet.

CarbonScored

We wanted our travellers to understand the true environmental impact of their tailor-made trips - so we built CarbonScored, the world’s first carbon scoring system designed specifically for complex, tailor-made holidays.

Unlike one-size-fits-all calculators, CarbonScored assesses every detail — from how you travel, to where you stay, to how your lodge sources its power. The result is a transparent carbon footprint for your holiday, empowering you to make informed choices and reduce your impact.

Offsetting with Immediate Impact

We work with Ecologi to offset the carbon emissions from our operations and the trips our travellers choose to offset. Impressively, 98% of our clients opt in.

While we value long-term initiatives like tree planting, our focus is on projects that deliver immediate impact — from mangrove planting in Mexico and clean cookstoves in Kenya, to peatland restoration in Indonesia and waste-to-energy schemes in India. These projects protect ecosystems, cut emissions now, and often create local jobs in the process.

Wilder Guides Media Kit

Wilder Guides

We created the Wilder Guides: the world’s first sustainably focused destination guidebooks. They highlight exciting conservation efforts and debate the challenges, showcase eco-friendly stays, low-impact experiences, and ways to engage with communities that directly benefit from your visit. The goal? To make sustainable travel choices easy, inspiring, and accessible.

Tourism Declares

We’re proud to be a founding signatory of Tourism Declares a Climate Emergency, committing to measurable climate action in line with IPCC targets. This means actively working to reduce emissions, supporting nature-positive tourism, and encouraging the wider industry to take meaningful steps towards change.

Charities

In 2023, we launched a new initiative donating $50 for every traveller to our charity partners — with no extra cost to you. We work closely with organisations we care deeply about, such as Play it Forward, supporting education for girls.

Our aim is to grow this program so every destination we visit benefits from these partnerships. We also invite our travellers to engage directly - visiting projects on the ground and seeing the difference these incredible organisations are making.

In recognition of his leadership in sustainable travel, our founder Ben Morison was inducted into the Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council Hall of Fame — celebrating those who have made a lasting impact on both the travel and environmental sectors.
