Maweninga Camp has a privileged location in the north-western area of Tarangire National Park

Its numerous herds of elephants as well as its huge baobab trees have established Tarangire's reputation

Location: Perched atop a massive granite kopje in the north western region of Tarangire National Park. From this elevated position, guests are treated to sweeping views of the vast savannah below, stretching out toward Lake Burunge, Lake Manyara, and the distant, mist-veiled volcanoes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, including the Ngorongoro Crater and Mount Oldeani. This secluded, authentic bush camp offers an unforgettable immersion into one of Tanzania’s most wildlife-rich landscapes - famed for its massive elephant herds, dramatic baobab trees, and timeless natural beauty.

Rooms: The camp is made up of 16 spacious tents, each thoughtfully positioned on raised wooden platforms that follow the natural contours of the kopje. Designed to fit in with the surrounding landscape, the tents offer an authentic bush atmosphere while maintaining comfort and style. Every tent has its own open-air terrace - perfect for taking in the stunning views. Inside, guests will find a cosy bedroom and a separate dressing room that lead to an en-suite bathroom complete with flush loos, wash basins, and solar powered showers. The rooms are tailored to suit a range of travellers, with single, double, twin and triple/family room configurations available.

Activities: There is a wide variety of activities on offer that showcase the rich biodiversity of Tarangire. Daily game drives, led by expert guides, offer thrilling opportunities to encounter a wide range of wildlife. For those wanting to immerse themselves more, guided bush walks reveal the park's intricate ecosystems, highlighting its unique floral and fauna. For those after a truly unforgettable experience, hot air balloon safaris can also be arranged, providing a breath taking aerial view of the vast savannah at sunrise. As night falls, evening game drives invite guests into a hidden world of night time activity (when the wilderness comes alive).

Sustainability: Maweninga Camp is deeply committed to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The entire camp operates on solar energy, using a state of the art solar system for electricity and solar heated water to ensure 24-hour hot showers. To reduce its environmental footprint, Maweninga also does rainwater harvesting, which supplies up to 50% of the camp's annual water needs, with the remainder drawn responsibly from a nearby borehole. These thoughtful initiatives not only protect the surrounding ecosystem but also ensure that guests enjoy a comfortable and authentic safari experience.
