Day 2: To Hazyview
Arrive in to Johannesburg early this morning, clear immigration, collect your bags and make your way to the car hire area to collect your rental vehicle. From there you will need to drive East to the fringes of the Kruger National Park where you will be spending the next 3 nights at the charming Rissington Inn. This afternoon will be at leisure to relax after the long journey to get here – the pool at Rissington is a great spot to relax and take in the views. It also boasts one of the best restaurants in the area, so you are well catered-for in that regard.
Days 3 & 4: Roam around the Panorama Route
An undoubted highlight of a visit to this area is the chance to explore a stunning part of South Africa known as the Panorama Route. This circular driving route is home to some of the most alluring scenery that South Africa has to offer, along with some interesting historical sites. Mac Mac Falls, Bourke’s Luck potholes, Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window and the historic gold mining town of Pilgrim's Rest. Equally, there are some great attractions around Hazyview where you are staying, including walking and mountain biking trails, ziplining through the trees, traditional craft markets, horseriding and golf courses – plenty to keep you occupied during your stay.
Day 5: In to the Kruger
Enjoy a final delicious breakfast at Rissington today before setting off in to the Kruger National Park, where you will be spending the next 3 nights in the Skukuza Rest Camp, a National Parks’ camp, ideally located for enjoying the incredible game viewing that this part of the park offers. There are a number of restaurants for you to choose from here, as well as a swimming pool, so you have plenty of facilities to enjoy when you are not out exploring the park.
Days 6 & 7: Exploring the Kruger National Park
With two full days to explore, there is ample time for you to enjoy the Kruger National Park’s excellent game viewing, which is particularly good around the Skukuza area. With an excellent network of tarred roads, you can head out to explore under your own steam, confident in the knowledge that there is a huge amount of wildlife out there and easy access to it. If you are looking to benefit from expert local knowledge, the camp also offers the chance to enjoy guided game drives throughout the day and you can book on to these whilst you are staying in the camp.
Day 8: To Vilanculos
There will be time for you to enjoy a final drive through the park this morning, before you head back out of the park and on to Kruger Mpumalanga airport where you will drop off your car and catch the flight across to Vilanculos on the coast of Mozambique. You will be met at the airport and transferred up to the lovely Bahia Mar Boutique Hotel where you will be spending the next 5 nights. Sit back, relax and enjoy the wonderful beachside location of the lodge, as well as its outstanding seafood – it really is a wonderful place to spend your time.
Days 9 - 12: Relaxing on the beach
Your time in Vilanculos is the chance to sit back, put your feet up by the pool with a good book, cold drink and enjoy the glorious sunshine that this part of the world revels in almost all year round. There is plenty to do here if you are looking to be active, with boat trips, fishing excursions, snorkelling and scuba diving, horseriding and trips out to local islands all on offer. Vilanculos town is also a fun place to explore, with some quirky little beach bars and excellent seafood restaurants, as well as the chance to get an insight in to local life.
