January
January is rather unpredictable, with the rainy season in full flow and possibility of cyclones, thunderstorms and high humidity it is best to avoid the coastline during this time. However. the prices are low and the water is at a tropical 28 degrees, making for excellent diving.
February
The rainy season endures making the weather unpredictable and best to avoid.
March
In March, the rains ease, temperatures stay hot but the humidity eases making it a pleasant 28-32 degrees. By the latter half of the month the archipelagos becoming bustling tourist sites, with boutique lodges filling up quickly.
April
April, heralds the end of the rainy season, offering clear sunny days and light winds. It is a wonderful month to travel, the scenery is lush green and the snorkelling and diving conditions are excellent.
May
Possibly one of the best months to travel, with the temperatures hovering around a pleasant 25-28 degrees, it is perfect for both beach lovers and culture vultures. Visiting Ilha de Mozambique and Ibo Island is particularly good during May as the cooler temperatures allow visitors to explore without bounds.
June
It's the start of the dry season, with highs of 30 degrees during the day. June is prime game viewing, with the largest conservation area in Mozambique opening, Niassa Game Reserve. If you're looking for a bush and beach safari, June is the perfect month to go.
July
July is a great time for wildlife viewing, it is the heart of the dry season bringing clear, warm and sunny days.
August
August remains clear and sunny, making it a beautiful month for sightseeing and game viewing, or relaxing on pristine white sandy beaches. Keep in mind that the Quirimba Archipelago can be rather windy during August.
September
Temperatures start to climb in September, if you're looking to snorkel or scuba dive September is incredible, with clear warm waters and abundant marine life - you may even see the whale migration. Meanwhile on land, game viewing is at its peak, with animals having their young and gathering around depleting watering holes in Niassa.
October
October is another great month for wildlife viewing and lazing on the country's beaches with temperatures ranging from 30-34 degrees.
November
November can be summed up in two words, hot and humid. With the rainy season on the horizon abundant sunshine can turn into thunderstorms which quickly blow over and you can be paddling in the warm Indian Ocean once again or viewing game.
December
December, the rains are back, but clear days are still abundant - if you're looking for golden rays and blue skies it's probably not the ideal time for you. Prices fall dramatically, while the sea remains temperate with divers able to enjoy sightings of rainbow fish, turtles and dugongs.
