Dedza Pottery Lodge

Dedza Pottery Lodge is located in Malawi’s highest town and overlooked by majestic mountains, Dedza Mountain and Mzengeleza Mountain. The accommodation is set in peaceful gardens close to Southern Africa’s largest producer of handmade ceramics, the perfect memento to take away with you from your Malawi adventure.

The lodge comprises of six rooms, two superior and four standard. All are equipped with toiletries, mosquito nets, en-suite tiled bathroom, hot shower, mini bar and secure safe, and the superior rooms have a TV and a kitchenette with coffee making facilities. In order to keep you at a comfortable temperature, fans and heaters are provided for the hotter and cooler months. The rooms have a rustic charm reflecting the focus on the handmade with warm ceramic tiles and hand-painted accents. Regarding cuisine, the restaurant has been recently awarded a silver medal in the “Best Restaurant in Malawi” competition.

On your stay at Dedza Pottery Lodge make sure you go on a pottery tour and follow the process from start to finish of the ceramic plates and pots. The pottery takes a huge interest in the development of the community and employs over 130 local people in all parts of the production. Not to be missed is the famed cheesecake offered in the restaurant, sample a piece alongside a cup of coffee. If you want to burn off the cheesecake induced calories, go on a walk through the forest on one of the numerous paths and visit cave paintings recognised by UNESCO World Heritage. The lodge offers its own guides, who can provide picnics for those wanting to spend more time on the mountain.
