January

Great for skiing (Rockies, Vermont), Northern Lights in Alaska, and avoiding crowds in national parks. Some regions (Northeast, Midwest) are very cold.

Expand

February

Mardi Gras in New Orleans, prime whale watching in California, and ideal desert hiking (Arizona, Nevada). Still wintery in the north.

Expand

March

Spring blossoms in D.C., great weather in Florida, and peak ski conditions in Utah. Southwest is warming up, and Texas wildflowers bloom.

Expand

April

National parks are stunning—Yosemite’s waterfalls peak, Grand Canyon is ideal, and mild weather across most of the country.

Expand

May

Perfect for road trips (California coast, Southwest), fewer crowds at national parks, and Alaska’s emerging wildlife before peak summer.

Expand

June

Great for hiking in the Rockies, long daylight in Alaska, and beach trips. But summer crowds start to rise.

Expand

July

Fireworks on July 4th, but national parks and cities are crowded and hot. Best for the Pacific Northwest and coastal escapes.

Expand

August

Glacier National Park shines, Maine’s seafood season is in full swing, but heat and humidity make much of the country uncomfortable.

Expand

September

Fall foliage begins in the Rockies, California wine harvest is underway, and temperatures cool. Fewer crowds in national parks.

Expand

October

Peak autumn colours in New England, Halloween in Salem, and perfect hiking weather. Great time for the Southwest’s deserts.

Expand

November

Desert national parks (Arizona, Utah) shine, early skiing begins, and Thanksgiving in NYC is iconic. Some regions start seeing winter weather.

Expand

December

Christmas lights in NYC, ski season in full swing, and warm winter escapes in Florida. But cold and storms affect northern states.
