Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Flagstaff

Staying at Hotel Maverick

Arrive in Flagstaff, nestled in the high desert of northern Arizona, and settle in for a taste of the Old West. Surrounded by Ponderosa pines, this historic town is our base for the next three nights. Guests arriving before 1 pm can join a guided excursion to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, exploring lava flows and cinder fields formed a thousand years ago. In the evening, meet your Expedition Leaders and fellow adventurers over a welcome dinner.

Day 2 Petrified Forest National Park

Staying at Red Cliffs Lodge

Drive along historic Route 66 to Petrified Forest National Park, known for its colourful fossilised wood and ancient petroglyphs. As we explore, learn about prehistoric ecosystems and ancient civilisations through fossilised trees dating back 225 million years and over 1,000 archaeological sites. Continue to Walnut Canyon National Monument to witness ancient cliff dwellings. Later, enjoy Flagstaff's stunning night skies with a stargazing experience in this International Dark Sky City.
